2018 Festivus Blend

A blend of coffees from Sumatra + Ethiopia feat. notes of dried fruits, vanilla + baking spices

For the holidays we combine two very different and complex coffees from Sumatra and Ethiopia. For the 2018 Festivus Blend, we have once again selected two of the finest coffees Sumatra and Ethiopia have to offer.

We commissioned local artist, Neal Russler to hand letter the Festivus art and the packaging was screen printed in Nashville, TN by Grand Palace.

This year’s Ethiopian component is a naturally processed coffee from the Konga cooperative, grown in the world famous Yirgacheffe region. This complex coffee adds plenty of dark fruit notes to the blend, such as cherry and blueberry.  

The Sumatran component comes from the famed Aceh region in northern Sumatra.  Here the coffees are picked at peak ripeness and then processed in the “wet hull” method that has made Sumatra famous for their flavor profile. Our 2018 Festivus Blend adds plenty of depth with notes of vanilla, oak, and baking spices.   

Together, these coffees create our version of one of the world’s original coffee blends, Mocha Java.

JUST RELEASED! Hatcher 4-Course Local Lamb Farm Dinner (8 seats available)

Thursday, November 15th @6pm at Frothy Monkey in The Nations. Limited tickets are available at frothymonkey.com for $71 and include paired beverages, tax, and gratuity.

We invite you to a 10 seat, 4-course dinner at Frothy Nations, featuring lamb from Hatcher Family Dairy. Chef Chase has prepared an exclusive meal to share with you that will be paired with wine, and a dessert cocktail incorporating Hatcher Dairy.

1- Pan Roasted Loin with roasted turnips and beets, confit brussels sprouts and black currant gastrique

2- Braised lamb ragout with carrots, pearl onions, butternut squash and blood orange pan gravy

3- Roasted Leg of Lamb, carved table-side, on purple potato and leek gratin, buttered green beans and red wine rosemary demi

4- Amaretto Cheese Cake with toasted almonds, spun sugar and port braised cherries

We are proud to offer 12South Blend, which is our house blend used for both drip and espresso. This coffee is roasted here in Nashville and it’s name honors our original home in the 12South neighborhood. We also roast and serve Brunch Blend (our breakfast blend), Unwind {decaf}, and our Single Origin coffees. Bags are available for purchase online and at all of our locations! #frothymonkeyroastingco

12South Blend, is our signature espresso blend which also makes great drip coffee, is sweet throughout, with balanced acidity, smooth body, and a caramel chocolate finish.

Unlike coffee blends, Single Origin Coffee has a single geographic origin. This could be a single farm or a single country. For the majority of these coffees we will have a direct relationship with the farmer who grows it. Because coffee is a crop, harvesting is seasonal and the timing is specific to each region, our selection of single origin coffees will vary throughout the year.

To make it extra special, we commissioned local artist, Alicia Binkley of Monkey Ink Design to illustrate our Single Origin labels.

DESCRIPTION: This coffee is incredibly juicy with notes of nectarine, dried apricot, plum and brown sugar

El Salvador El Manzano Honey
ALTITUDE: 1300-1550 m
REGION: Santa Ana
DESCRIPTION: This is an insanely smooth, balanced coffee, with notes of caramel apples, figs, and cashews throughout. It’s acidity is subtly citrusy, just like a clementine, and it’s sweetness is like strawberry candy.
