2024 Fall and Winter Seasonal Coffee, Tea and Espresso Drinks
Amid the summer heat, we start dreaming of fall flavors to bring to the table at our Fall and Winter Seasonal Drink Competition. In mid-June employees start dreaming of their own recipe for new fall and winter inspired drinks. Some recipes are experimental, others sentimental, and all of them show the incredible creativity of folks at Frothy.
The Fall and Winter Drink Competition
Scents of warm cinnamon, maple, and fall spices floated through the air at Frothy Monkey in Downtown Franklin on July 30th. Our judges chose 4 drinks out of a total of 13 entries for the Fall/Winter Seasonal Drink Competition.

Meet the Seasonal Drink Competition Winners
This years New Fall and Winter seasonal drinks are barista creations from our Downtown Nashville, Nations, Downtown Franklin, and 12South locations! We were lucky enough to get a few minutes with each of them to talk about their drink.
Meet Lilly
First, we have Lilly Wilkenson and their drink La Rochelle! La Rochelle is an espresso tonic made with house-made blood orange and tarragon syrup, espresso, and tonic water. The inspiration for this drink came from Paul Signac’s “Entrance to the Port of La Rochelle” which they saw on their trip to France at the Musée d’Orsay.
The painting is a beautiful work of pointillism containing pinks and blues for a rosy view of a boat flowing into the harbor. The flavors of the drink are a nod to the blood oranges that were in season, and incorporated into many of the dishes Lilly tried while in France.
Catch ‘La Rochelle’ on the 2024 Fall and Winter Seasonal Cocktail menu as a margarita!
Meet Audri
Next, we have a warm cider with a lovely twist! Apple Bottom Jeans was created by Audri Garvin from our Downtown Nashville location. Apple Bottom Jeans is a spiced apple cider with house-made cranberry syrup, cinnamon, sage, cloves, and nutmeg.
Akin to the Christmas Wassail, this drink is “like Christmas in a cup” , says Audri. Served hot or iced, the Apple Bottom Jeans can serve up a comforting mug for chilly hands, or a refreshing juicy drink to pair with rich holiday flavors.
Meet AK
The third drink we chose for the fall/winter menu is the 12 Karats latte made by AK from our 12South Nashville location. AK’s latte tastes like carrot cake! The name is a play on the 12South location and “karats” for carrots. This drink is made with espresso, steamed coconut milk, house-made carrot cake syrup and pecan.
Growing up with a Thanksgiving adjacent birthday, AK always chose a carrot cake as her birthday treat! All of the warm and cozy nostalgia from her fall birthday inspired her to create 12 Karats.
Meet Chris
Lastly, we have a luxurious black tea steamer called the Winter Solstice. Chris Grimes from the team at The Nations Frothy Monkey designed this drink to look like a winter horizon.
The Winter Solstice contains Lapsang Souchong (pine smoked black tea), FM Lavender syrup, steamed milk and a cinnamon and dried citrus garnish.
Chris says, “This drink is great on a fall day for folks who might prefer tea, or are sensitive to caffeine”.
Thanks again to the folks at Frothy Monkey Roasting Co for the incredible coffee, and for bringing their best tastebuds to judge the competition . We were lucky to have head roaster Daniel Lopez, Director of Coffee, Ryan Bledsoe, and Barista + Bartender Jeff Duke. Every year we are blown away by the talent and passion of Frothy folks, and this competition was no different! We appreciate all of the entries and look forward to hearing which one is your favorite.
