We’re leaning in to this year’s Groundhogs day prediction of an early spring. It’s time for new seasonal drinks at Frothy Monkey! Our drink competition showcased beautiful colors and flavors. Some drinks were inspired by childhood memories and summertime activities, while others embraced “summer vibes” or spring feelings.
We had over 15 entries in this year’s competition! Our judges ultimately chose three drinks for the new menu. We’re excited to get out winter’s gloomy shadow and into some fresh, delicious flavors for the year.
2024 Spring and Summer Seasonal Drinks
Blume
Espresso, steamed milk, + Frothy Monkey lavender syrup + Frothy Monkey banana coffee syrup, house-made orange simple syrup, and edible flower garnish
First up we have “Blume”, a lavender, banana, and orange latte topped with edible flowers. Sammy from our location in The Nations, created this latte with all things “blooming” in mind. Blume is also the yiddish word for “flower” which follows the floral and fruit blossom theme. This latte features two of our coffee syrups made in small batches and bottled locally in Nashville, TN! Available Hot or Iced.
Blue Velvet
Matcha, tonic water + house-made blueberry mint syrup
This drink aims to be as iconic as it’s namesake, the 1980’s David Lynch film, “Blue Velvet”. Mixing matcha, tonic, blueberry, and mint creates a multilayered presentation and flavorful take on matcha for summer. Frothy Monkey mint coffee syrup and fresh blueberries are combined to make a house-made syrup that gives this drink its blue hue when mixed. This drink is only available iced.
It’s 5am Somewhere
Frothy Monkey cold brew coffee + tonic water + Frothy Monkey lavender coffee syrup + orange bitters + lemon
We’re dreaming of summer days listening to the late great Jimmy Buffet and sipping on a “It’s 5am Somewhere”. This cold brew coffee mocktail is a non-alcoholic take on an Old Fashioned. Our lead barista from Frothy Monkey in Knoxville, Scott Apple, combined Frothy Monkey Cold Brew Coffee, Tonic Water, Frothy Monkey Lavender Syrup, a touch of orange bitters, and lemon garnish. This cold brew old fashioned is served over a classic 2” ice cube, and is only available iced.
