We can’t overstate the fact that we are so grateful for you and the support you have shown throughout this pandemic. We are aware of the CDC’s updated guidelines as well as the loosened restrictions made by our local governments.

We are currently reviewing our own COVID-19 safety policies and procedures but it will take some time to consider the impact of our decisions. Since there is no mechanism to easily identify those who have been vaccinated or who may be immune-compromised, for the health and safety of all, our staff will continue to wear masks for now and guests who are fully vaccinated are welcome to enter our buildings without a mask.

Thank you for your patience while we navigate these constantly changing factors. Stay well, take care of each other, and know that we are doing our very best to do the same!

// 06.01 Our Reopening Plan + Safety Protocols //

You WOW us every day with your support, and we are grateful. Now that more folks are starting to enter back into public it was clear to us that in order to best serve you, we needed to put more systems and controls in place. Our plan is to slowly open our buildings, so we can roll out changes effectively to provide the safest experience possible. On June 2nd, we’ll start by opening our Chattanooga location, which is already set up to be conducive to distanced flow and seating. We will add our Downtown Nashville location next for dine-in service on Thursday, June 4th, followed by Franklin on Tuesday, June 9th. Once we determine dine-in dates for the remaining locations we will announce them.

We love to be a part of your daily routines. Please bear with us because there are a few changes we have made that may seem unexpected.

After nearly 16 years of counter service, you will now check-in with a friendly masked and sanitized host. They will seat you, and then a server will take your order at your table. This will allow us to limit the number of people in our spaces, the number of guests at each table (no more than 6), and ensure that your table is sanitized and socially distanced before you sit.

Staff is required to be symptom-free before reporting to a shift. We are utilizing CDC guidelines promoting handwashing, facemasks, social distancing, sanitizing, and training staff on health measures. We will be maintaining our already high standards of cleanliness while adding more frequent cleaning practices.

We have made changes in order to manage lines, eliminate paper menus (although they will be available if needed), and cut down on other high touchpoints such as condiment bars. We have also installed contactless payment options (yay Apple Pay!).

Due to the unique features and layout of each location, the flow may vary. But, the general policies, safety changes, and high levels of service will be the same. We will also be keeping some of the products and amenities we have added in the past few months including groceries and prepared foods, as well as online ordering for curbside pickup.

Hours will continue to be 7 am – 8 pm at all locations until further notice. We are looking forward to seeing you soon! As always, please email us at frothycares@frothymonkey.com if you have any questions.

// 05.25 Updates for Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga //

Without the unending support of our communities, these last 2+ (very challenging) months may have broken us. Thanks to you all, and one kickass team working around the clock, we are somehow still here. There are no adequate words to express our gratitude, but we want you to know that we will continue to be here for you, as you all have for us.

Our dining areas will remain closed at this time, but we are still open for take out and delivery. Our goal is for each guest who enjoys Frothy to feel comfortable and confident in their experience.

As a small business, a family, and members of our community, we want to be part of the solution and do our part to provide and sustain jobs during this pandemic. Like you, we want Frothy to survive and thrive, and we want to serve you in the safest way possible.

We are creating our own timeline for opening our dining areas based on the responsibility to provide for the unique needs of our staff, guests and neighborhoods.

We are working diligently to make thoughtful changes to our operations and service in order to begin opening our dining areas in some capacity, but we are just not ready yet. As you can imagine, there are so many adjustments to be made, so please stay tuned for updates.

Thank you for your continued support, your patience, and your kindness to us and to each other.

Let us know if you have any questions by emailing frothycares@frothymonkey.com.

// 05.08 Updates for Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga //

Due to the sudden announcement from Nashville’s Mayor about entering phase one of the plan to reopen the city, we wanted to reaffirm our decision to keep dining areas at all locations closed until we feel it is safe for staff and guests to gather in them. We will remain OPEN for curbside pickup and delivery.

In addition to that, we have several exciting things to announce!

• Beginning Friday 05.08 we will be expanding our hours at all open locations (12South, Nations, East, Franklin, and Chattanooga) to 7am – 8pm seven days a week.
• East Nashville now has a full line of beer, wine, and cocktails!
• We are launching our spring / summer menu including seasonal drinks
• We will be re-opening our Downtown Nashville location very soon (more on that later)

We will continue to innovate to stay relevant in an effort to employ more staff, and continue to offer the best quality experience possible. As we closely monitor the situation we will be carefully considering factors including the unique needs of our staff, our guests, our operations, and the recommendations of health organizations. Our goal is to invest our resources in sustainable practices as we add staff and begin the process of reopening fully and there is not an exact timeline.

Thank you for your support. We will continue to take every precaution to provide the safest possible service for our guests and work environment for our staff. We hope that you continue to enjoy Frothy Monkey with confidence. Let us know if you have any questions by emailing frothycares@frothymonkey.com.

// UPDATE Sunday 4.26.20 //

As you know, we are in a time with many unknowns and challenges which are changing day to day. In light of the communication from government officials in the past few days about plans for reopening our cities, we wanted to give you an update on what our plans are for Frothy Monkey.

We will be carefully considering factors including the unique needs of our staff, our guests, and our operations, while using recommendations from health organizations, as well as the phased plan presented by Nashville’s Mayor, as guidance for our decisions company wide. Our decisions will be data driven, not date driven, which means we do not have an exact timeline for reopening fully.

Our dining areas at all locations will remain closed until further notice until we feel it is safe for staff and guests to gather in them. We will remain open for curbside pickup and delivery, and over the next few weeks begin to expand our hours of operation as well as our menu. In addition to our existing high standards of safety, we are increasing our efforts in the following ways as well as others:

• All staff are washing hands more often.

• Our POS touch screens will be disinfected often and guests will swipe their own credit cards.

Frothy is coming to Knoxville!

Posted by on June 28, 2021

Hello, Knoxville! After a few years of spending time in Marble City, Frothy Monkey is working toward opening a Downtown Knoxville location of our all day cafe in the Kress Building on Gay St. in 2022. No firm date has been determined for opening, but we are currently applying for permits and working out a few final details before construction begins. There are many unknowns at this point, but we will post updates when we have them.

Slip & Slide Summer Blend: The Taste of Summer!

Posted by on June 28, 2021

Introducing Slip & Slide, the Taste of Summer!

We crafted this summertime blend from two different Ethiopian coffees, resulting in a drink that’s perfect for your morning cup of hot coffee, or splash it over ice for a crisp cold treat during sunny fun-filled days in the backyard. With sweet melon and smooth white tea notes throughout, along with a berry and citrus punch, it’s a thirst-quenching and delightful brew!

Slide on in!

Peru Percy Rojas Torres Fair Trade Coffee

Posted by on June 23, 2021

This washed fair trade coffee has bright fruit notes of fresh pears, balanced with a candy bar-like sweetness of nougat and cocoa nibs. We love this coffee for it’s clarity and drinkability.

From the Santuario Cooperative in northern Peru, the Percy Rojas Torres is an exceptional example of the depth and complexity of coffee for this ecologically diverse region located at the border of the Andes Mountains and the Amazon Forest.

Santuario is only a couple of years old, and has already helped empower 360 smallholder farmers and producer groups in their pursuit of long term coffee sustainability and profitability. Santuario’s mission includes helping producers adopt organic farming practices and other sustainability initiatives, educating them on a wide array of cultivation and post-harvest quality techniques, and enabling access to wider, better-paying specialty markets.

Percy Rojas Torres is one of Santuario’s smallholder producers and a legacy coffee farmer. His 6-hectare farm includes 3 hectares set aside for coffee, and is named La Palta after it’s abundance of avocado trees.

Reusable Cup Discount

Posted by on June 2, 2021

Every little bit matters when it comes to sustainability, and we’re hoping that you can help us cut down on the use of disposables. We use sip lids for our cold cups to eliminate the need for a straw, and for guests who bring a reusable cup into our stores they will receive 15 cents off of their beverage purchase. We have some great reusable cup options available for purchase online or in our stores if you don’t already have one. For those of you who are making the effort to reduce waste we thank you!

Colombia Claudia Samboni: Roaster Series Coffee

Posted by on May 28, 2021

We’re kicking off our Roaster Series line with our first coffee: a Colombia Pink Bourbon sourced and roasted by our own Daniel Lopez. The Roaster Series is a project dedicated to showcasing coffee producers and the innovations they’re making to drive the coffee industry forward. Colombia has long been regarded as one of the premier coffee-growing countries in the world, and what better region to kick off our Roaster Series than a country known for its consistent quality.

This coffee was named after its producer, Claudia Samboni, whose team at Finca Las Nubes has developed a truly exquisite coffee with this Pink Bourbon. We love its lively notes of strawberry and dark chocolate, with a cherry acidity and rich body. It’s beautiful and sweet and deeply complex, and we’re so excited to be featuring it.

Check out our Roaster Series page to learn more about this project!

If you’ve been on Instagram for any length of time, you’ve likely seen the adorable and often hilarious photos of Doug the Pug (@itsdougthepug). Doug has garnered nearly 4 million instagram followers and is quite the social media influencer, as well as an all around good boy. Here at Frothy, we are big fans of Doug, so when we were asked to help Doug celebrate his 9th birthday by spreading the word about their newest endeavor, we enthusiastically agreed!

Doug, with the help of his people, Leslie and Rob, have created the Doug the Pug Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that works to bring joy and needed support to children and their families battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.  The foundation creates life-giving campaigns to alleviate financial burdens and bring smiles to those who can best benefit. Check out their website here.

How will we celebrate an admitted #frothyfan and Donut lover? Well, for Doug’s birth month of May, we will be donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of every can of Frothy cold brew and every donut muffin to the Doug the Pug Foundation. Doug’s birthday is on May 20, and is also a Nashville official holiday known as Doug the Pug day, but we will be celebrating all month long, at all 6 of our locations: 12South, DWTN Nashville, Franklin, Nations, East Nashville and Chattanooga. Any time you purchase a donut muffin, can of Frothy Cold Brew (or both!), tag us in your photos or stories so we can share with Doug how many people all over are celebrating him, too!

Tanzania Masangula Coffee

Posted by on May 5, 2021

Balanced, smooth and sweet, the Tanzania Masangula is a delicious microlot of two coffee varieties, N39 and KT423, which are widely grown in Tanzania and other parts of east Africa.

This fully-washed coffee is depulped, fermented, then dried on raised tables for 7 to 14 days, which gives it a wonderfully clean fruit flavor and mellow body. We taste vibrant lemon and red fruit notes, with an essence of black tea next to a soft, bittersweet chocolate and a sweet praline-like finish.

The Tanzania Masangula is grown and processed by the Masangula AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) of the Mbeya region. The co-op includes more than 100 Tanzanian coffee growers, and this particular lot is noted for the screen size of its green beans, “AA”, some of the largest coffee beans in the world. This makes roasting a wonderful — and very rewarding —  challenge for our team!

Rwanda Sholi Coffee

Posted by on April 23, 2021

From one of our newest relationship cooperatives in Rwanda, Abateraninkunga ba Sholi, we’re extremely proud and thrilled to present these two similar (but definitely different) Fair Trade specialty coffees, side-by-side. Both of these coffees are the same varietal, from the same farming cooperative, harvested at the same time, but they’ve been processed in very different ways, to give each its own wonderfully distinct flavors and attributes.

The Abateraninkunga ba Sholi cooperative (meaning ‘mutual assistance’) was originally established in 2008 by 30  women and received official recognition in 2013. In 2014 they received funding to build their own washing station,  and in 2015 received their Fair Trade certification. Today the cooperative is made up of 400 farms, 3 washing  stations, and 451 members, 196 of which are women.

In 2016 the cooperative received a grant to build a community center and a health center to serve its members  and other local residents. The nearest hospital is over 45 minutes away on poor roads, so services for things such  as malaria, parasites, pregnancy check-ups, and basic first aid that the health center can provide are invaluable.  The community center also provides education on nutrition, cooking, and gardening in order to combat childhood  malnutrition.

In November 2019, members of our team traveled to Sholi with our partners at Atlas Coffee Importers. They cupped  their coffees and toured one of the processing stations, a farm, warehouse, and the health and community centers  and formed lasting relationships along the way.

We’re excited and proud to offer this exceptional coffee that has done so much for the community from where it hails. As one of our newest relationship coffees, we are taken with its dark fruit characteristics mixed in with the  classic base of spices and deep sweetness that the region is known for. Innovative thinking, attention to detail, and  great growing conditions point to a very bright future, indeed.

The Rwanda Sholi Washed has a tea-like mouthfeel, with dark fruit characteristics of blackberry and raisin, paired with a base of spices and toffee sweetness that the region is known for. The Rwanda Sholi Natural, by contrast, was processed in a naturally drying style, which results in a fuller, more syrupy body than the Washed. This Natural has bold red grape flavors, topped with the airy sweetness of confectioner’s sugar and just a hint of delightfully tart green apple notes.
