We are proud to once again feature a single origin from La Cumbre farm in El Salvador. We are always excited for our fresh coffee arrivals from this small coffee producing country in the middle of Central America. This lot comes from one of our longest-lasting coffee grower relationships: Emilio López Díaz. We have used his coffees in our blends and as single origin releases for years.

La Cumbre was founded in 1872 by Mr. Cornelio Lemus (great-grandfather of Margarita Lucia Díaz de López). The farm has remained in the family for five generations, and the care and cultivation it receives is apparent from the first sip. Now operated by Emilio, the farm has spent much of the last 15 years experimenting with new processing methods and varieties, including Gesha, SL-34, and a range of Bourbons.

This particular microlot is completely made up of the Pacamara variety. The Pacamara variety is a hybrid of the Pacas and Maragogype varieties, known for its exceptionally large bean size and a delightful, complex cup profile. Here, the natural process accentuates these characteristics and lends even more to its fruity pop. All of this is built upon the classic Salvadoran profile that we adore, resulting in a coffee that is exceptionally soft and sweet with fruity notes. This coffee reveals notes of pomegranate, 60% cacao, and candied nuts.

What is Single Origin Coffee? Unlike coffee blends, Single Origin Coffee has a single geographic origin. This could be a single farm or a single country. For the majority of these coffees, we will have a direct relationship with the farmer who grows them. Because coffee is a crop, harvesting is seasonal and the timing is specific to each region, our selection of single-origin coffees will vary throughout the year.

To make it extra special, we commissioned local artist, Alicia Binkley of Monkey Ink Design to illustrate our Single Origin labels. Enjoy!

To provide you with the freshest product, all coffee is sold as Whole Bean by default. If you would like your coffee ground please select from the dropdown.
