Our latest single-origin offering hails from a longstanding relationship with a producer in Guatemala, Juan Francisco Pira, commonly known as “JFP,” who has dedicated nearly three decades to coffee cultivation. Alongside macadamia nuts and avocados, coffee remains his true passion. His washed process coffees, integral to our blends for almost a decade, reflect his commitment to quality.
Finca El Retiro Quisaya, a recent acquisition by JFP, serves as a platform for experimenting with various varieties and processing methods. One notable experiment is the microlot of the Maragogype variety, renowned for its large beans in specialty coffee. Properly harvested, roasted, and brewed, Maragogype exhibits delightful sweetness and fruitiness—a discovery our head roaster, Daniel made during his visit with JFP in Guatemala last year.
Featuring notes of creamy malted chocolate, juicy black cherry, and the nutty sweetness of marzipan, we are confident that you will find this coffee as pleasing as we do. This offering from JFP represents another sweet and comforting brew from one of our favorite origins. We are thrilled to contribute to our expanding list of coffees, guiding them from origin to your morning cup.
