The Imbachi name resonates throughout Colombia’s coffee landscape, built on the foundation laid by patriarch Carlos Imbachi—a former treasure hunter who traded searching for pre-Columbian artifacts for cultivating award-winning coffees. Carlos’s coffees won the SCAA’s Coffee of the Year award in both 2009 and 2010, scoring over 90 points and even surpassing Panama’s famed Esmeralda Gesha. His success established the family as what many consider the godfathers of specialty coffee in San Agustín.

Yon Edizon carries this legacy at Finca El Borugo, where he cultivates a thoughtful blend of Caturra, Bourbon, and Gesha varieties across two hectares at 1,663 meters above sea level. This multi-variety approach creates the complexity that earns the AA grading—each variety contributing its distinct characteristics to create a harmonious cup with vibrant hibiscus florals, crisp Pink Lady apple sweetness, and the unique complexity of tamarind candy. The medium, round body provides structure while tart, balanced acidity keeps each sip lively and engaging.

The washed processing method allows the terroir of San Agustín to shine through clearly, expressing the unique microclimate where the Magdalena River begins its journey through Colombia.
