Día de Muertos

From $20.00

It’s our favorite time of year, and we’re proud to offer a delicious coffee that honors a tradition that’s very dear to our hearts. Day of the Dead is one of the most important annual celebrations in Mexico and Latin America, and we cherish the opportunity to help preserve and communicate the cultural heritage of Día de Muertos and its importance in our communities.

This year’s microlot coffee is sourced from Oaxaca (waa·haa·kuh), Mexico, and produced by the UNECAFE Cooperative. In Oaxaca, coffee harvesting and processing are celebrated events involving the entire family, with music and coffee-picking festivities. After processing, the coffee goes through rigorous quality testing, and high-quality lots are blended to showcase the region’s coffee excellence. This coffee is being released just in time for Fall.

Día de Muertos is soothing and balanced, with tasting notes of maple, red apple, cocoa powder, and nougat. It’s characterized as a warm and comforting brew, embodying the essence of “fall in a cup.”

It’s our favorite time of year, and we’re proud to offer a delicious coffee that honors a tradition that’s very dear to our hearts. Day of the Dead is one of the most important annual celebrations in Mexico and Latin America, and we cherish the opportunity to help preserve and communicate the cultural heritage of Dia de Muertos and its importance in our communities.

This year’s microlot coffee comes from the southwestern state of Oaxaca (waa·haa·kuh), Mexico and the producers of the UNECAFE Cooperative. These producers represent various indigenous communities including Chatina, Chinanteca, Mixteca, and Zapoteca, where coffee farming is a generational practice. Due to the aging population of coffee producers, one objective of UNECAFE is to empower women and younger generations in coffee cultivation.

Coffee harvesting and processing is a time of celebration in this region of Oaxaca. When cherries are ripe for harvest, the whole family is gathered, music is played, and coffee is picked. After harvest and processing, producers’ coffees are separated and tested multiple times for cup quality. High-quality lots are blended to make selections that best showcases the coffee quality of this region of Mexico. We’re so excited to release this coffee just in time for the arrival of Fall.

It’s a soothing, balanced coffee, and we’re excited to play a small role in its journey from the farm to your cup. We taste notes of maple, red apple, cocoa powder and nougat. With its warm and comforting flavors, this year’s offering is essentially “fall in a cup”!
